Owen Reed is looking to recruit a driven Legal Education & Development Assistant to join top law firm in London.
The Legal Education and Development Assistant will provide general development assistance for the Legal Recruitment and Development team in order to provide an effective and efficient administrative function for the Firm.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary and dependent on team workload)
Development and Training
- Responsible for creating attendance surveys (Novi Survey tool), running the reports and inputting, updating and maintaining the attorney training records in the London office
- Checking US weekly and monthly training reports and making any required adjustments on the Firm's tracking system
- Creating attorney development onboarding and leaver checklists
- Issuing departing attorneys with training reports/certificates
- Assisting with arranging Practice Group trainings (attorneys and trainees) including Attorney Training Calendar, booking rooms, issuing calendar invitations, updating training tracker
- Issuing compliance courses to new attorneys and tracking completion
- Providing London attorneys reports on their training compliance (England & Wales, US, Brussels, France)
- Creating CLE training accreditation applications and liaising with US peers to ensure London training is accredited for US admitted attorneys and filing materials
- Liaising with US peers on Learning Management System (LMS) trainings and London attorney attendance
- LMS administration including and not limited to creating events, lessons, learning paths and applying training credits
- Assisting with Brussels and French attorney training requirements including making training accreditation applications
- Booking external courses and obtaining necessary approvals and maintaining budget spreadsheet
- Assisting with Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Colleagues for Life initiatives and events.
- Processing invoices and department Barclaycard expenses.
- Assisting with administration of any mentoring scheme
- Assisting with admin for attorney engagement activities
- Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities that reasonably fall within the remit of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Work Experience, Skills
- Educated to degree level ideally (although will consider candidates educated to A Level standard if also have relevant experience as per below)
- Some proven professional services experience in Development (legal development ideal). Some experience of working in a law firm training team is preferred. An understanding of legal development compliance is helpful or law firm experience generally
- Excellent customer service orientation with excellent communication skills and the ability to work with attorneys and staff at all levels
- Ability to think critically and pro-actively and problem solve and a "can-do" attitude
- Ability to effectively prioritise and respond to multiple service requests, often while working under tight time constraints and juggling multiple workstreams
